Admission Requirements

  • Completed bachelor’s degree at time of matriculation
  • Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA 3.0
  • Standardized test score (one of the following):
    • GRE (minimum 300)
    • MCAT (minimum 28, MCAT 2015 score TBD)
    • DAT (minimum 18)

  • Prerequisite Courses
    • 2 semesters/2 quarters of General Chemistry
    • 2 semesters/3 quarters of General Biology
    • 2 semesters/2 quarters of Organic Chemistry
    • 1 semester/1 quarter of Calculus

    • 2 semesters/2 quarters of General Chemistry
    • 2 semesters/3 quarters of General Biology
    • 1 semester/1 quarter of Calculus or Statistics
    • 1 course in Organic Chemistry (Optional, but Recommended)

Application Components

Applications will not be reviewed until all components have been submitted and processed.

    • Why are you interested in pursuing the Master of Science in Global Medicine degree? How will this degree affect or enhance your career aspirations and goals? Please also mention your track preference (clinical, management).

  3. Three letters of recommendation
  4. Letters may be submitted by the following methods:

    • Recommenders upload the letter through the Graduate Admissions Online Application
    • Recommenders mail the letter to the USC Office of Graduate Admission at the address below.
    • Recommenders upload the letter to Interfolio and the student releases the letters to the Global Medicine Office by email to Please do not send Interfolio letters via regular mail.

    Additional letters above the 3 letter requirement will be added to file but are not guaranteed to be read. We will accept letters written for health professional programs, but we will not accept letters written for post baccalaureate programs or other master's programs.

  5. Transcripts
  6. From all previously attended post-secondary institutions. Please note that it may take up to two weeks to process transcripts once they have been received.

    • MCAT: email your AAMC ID and verification code (found on MCAT THx website when selecting "Create and Print" Score Report)

International Students Additional Requirements

  • Official transcripts from all foreign institutions attended
  • Official TOEFL/IELTS scores

Special Degrees

  • PharmD/MS Global Medicine dual degree – for those already enrolled in the pharmacy program
  • MD/MS Global Medicine – for those already enrolled in the MD program
  • Advanced Track – for those who have already earned their doctorate degree (eg. MD, DDS, PhD, MBBS)
  • Graduate Certificate in Global Medicine – for those who have already earned a master’s degree in a related field (eg. MA, MPH, MHA)
